This is our long hike of the year — a full loop through the woods, across Rock Creek at Beach Drive, and past the Civil War earthworks at Fort DeRussy. About 490 feet of climbing, narrow and rocky in spots, and muddy this time of year. Hiking boots are recommended. Plan on three hours. Scouts stop and wait for adults at every road crossing, and no one enters the creek.
